About Me

Okay. Not really. 

My name is Andrea Velasco.

50% Brazilian, 50% Spanish.

I speak Portuguese, English, Spanish and French.

I wish I spoke German, Russian, Dutch, Greek and Klingon.

I am atheist and straight, but respect all religions, races, and sexualities.

Favourite shows include Doctor Who, Fringe, Supernatural, Sherlock, How I Met Your Mother, Community, House, Star Trek, Lie To Me, Adventure Time, Cosmos, Top Gear…

I love books. I don’t think I can write a list of every single book I’ve loved. However, I can tell you that most of my bookshelf consists in books about modern physics, neuropsychology, science fiction and some philosophy. My goal is to someday understand everything I read. My favourite book at the moment is Orwell’s 1984. My favourite writer (due to style of narrative) is Douglas Adams.

Favourite movies include Contact, Star Trek, Angels & Demons, The Day After Tomorrow, What The Bleep Do We Know?, The Butterfly Effect, The Matrix, Knowing, Napoleon Dynamite (don’t ask), Inception, Fight Club, The Illusionist, Memento…

and basically anything Marvel. 

Okay, and most Pixar movies too.

Favourite bands/singers/composers in random order: Coldplay, Dire Straits, The Fratellis, Jon Fratelli, Pink Floyd, Kasabian, Simon & Garfunkel, Led Zeppelin, Niccolò Paganini, Guns n’ Roses, Antonio Vivaldi, Erik Satie, Isaac Albeniz, Gypsy & The Cat, The Clash, Charlie Winston, Billy Joel, Camille Saint-Saëns, Elbow, Hans Zimmer, The Shins, The Beatles, The Who, Murray Gold…(more to be added in the future, probably)

Things i’m proud of: I can solve a rubik’s cube and recite The Element Song and The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny by heart. (I know, I know, you’re already impressed)

My brazilian soccer team is Vasco da Gama, my spanish team is Real Madrid and my english team is Manchester United.

People I worship: Carl Sagan, Bill Nye, Salman Khan, Jules Verne, Richard Feynman, Douglas Adams, Steve Jobs, Erwin Schrödinger, George Orwell and Edwin Hubble. 

I graduate June 2012 and plan on studying theoretical physics/computer science.

I’m weird, insane, curious, shy, and awkward. I am a walking and talking oxymoron.
